Internal Links :- An internal link is a type of hyperlink on a webpage. Internal Links are hyperlinks that point at (target) the same domain as the domain that the link exists on (source).Internal links are most useful for establishing site architecture.


What is an Internal Link?


Internal links are links that go from one page on a domain to a different page on the same domain. They are commonly used in main navigation. OR  An internal link connects one page of a website to a different page on the same website. In an internal link, the source domain and target domain are the same.


These type of links are useful for three reasons ( The Purpose of Internal Linking ):


They allow users to navigate a website.
They help establish information hierarchy for the given website.
They help spread link ranking power around websites.

  • Natural links

  • Use a reasonable number of internal links.

  • Use Relevant links

  • Use follow links ( Nofollow & Dofollow Link ) :-  Link attribute  rel=nofollow.   and  rel=dofollow

What is a No Follow Link?
A no follow link is a link that does not count as a point in the page’s favor, does not boost PageRank, and doesn’t help a page’s placement in the SERPs.


Note :- The nofollow tag is basically a notice sign for search engines saying “don’t count this.” and nofollow link as an outgoing link in terms of the distribution of page rank from your page.

What is a DO Follow Link?
When Google bots are crawling a website they look for external links point to other websites. If this links is “do follow” then search engines will follows the link

Note :- if you do not use rel attribute the link will be treated as ‘dofollow’. and “do follow backlinks” from good sites are better.


How different search engines treat Nofollow?




  • Google: Google does not follow the nofollow link.

  • Yahoo: Yahoo follows that link for finding new content but link Rank is not passed.

  • Bing: Bing follows that link for finding new content but link Rank is not passed.

  • Ask: It does not follow nofollow tag and treats it as normal dofollow link.
